Available
Older Puppies and Adults
Occasionally,
we have older puppies or adult dogs available. These are either
Labs we bred or purchased for our breeding program that for some
reason did not work out, girls we have retired from breeding that
would like to find a comfy couch and loving hands and live the
pampered life as an only dog, Labs we have rescued and rehabbed
and are ready to place in forever homes, or sometimes Labs we
wish to place in a Host home. The advantage to adopting one of
these dogs is that the "puppy stage" is over with. The
dogs are housetrained and up to date on all vaccinations.
We
currently have several puppies and adults available for sale.
Shasta!
Shasta
is a lovely 5 year old yellow girl. We have decided to remove
her from our breeding program and place her in a wonderful family
home. Shasta is crate trained, housebroken and knows basic obedience
commands. She is UTD on all vaccinations, microchipped and will
be spayed. Shasta ADORES people. We want to find an only dog home
for her, with no children under the age of 5. She tends to rub
herself catlike against people's legs, and doesn't know her own
strength when she does so, so she might knock younger children
over. Shasta is on the small side in height, though she is stockily
built for her size. This wonderful girl will be a treasure for
someone special.
The
Black Girls!

These
are Shasta's daughters, born January 17. I had planned to keep
some of these girls for my breeding program, but issues came up
that have prevented it. These girls are crate trained, housebroken
and have some basic obedience skills. I have reduced their price
right now because there are four of them and one of me, and I
think it is in their best interests to go to their forever homes
as soon as possible. With additional time and training however,
their price will increase. Puppies are UTD on vaccinations, and
will be sold on AKC Limited Registration with spay contracts.
Mariah
Mariah
is a lovely black girl, the pick girl of the litter. She is smart
and quick to learn, with a calm, balanced temperament. You will
fall in love with this girl!
Georgia
Georgia
is a sweet, calm girl. She is sweet and friendly, but also very
mellow and easy to live with. You will be amazed at how calm this
puppy is.
Celine
Celine
is absolutely gorgeous. She is very sweet, submissive and a bit
shy. When she initially meets someone, she hangs back for a minute
evaluating them, then totally falls all over them. She is another
calm girl.
Zsa
Zsa is a riot. She's a healthy, happy girl, and is housebroken
and UTD on her vaccinations. She is slow to mature physically,
which is why we have elected to put her in an appropriate host
home. Learn more about our hosting program below.
TarKom
Labradors Host Program
Because
we truly love our dogs, we want them to be able to enjoy a full
life, which includes lots of one on one attention and time with
a family. We breed with the main purpose of improving our lines
with each generation, and to enhance and continue our own breeding
program. For this reason, we end up with lots of dogs. This means
that we sometimes can't give our dogs as much one on one attention
as they desire. By working with host families in this manner,
we are able to carry on our great pedigrees and the dogs are able
to love and be loved by wonderful folks! We believe this is a
win-win-win situation for us, for the family, and most importantly,
for the Labs!
These
dogs are placed at no charge, with ownership retained by TarKom
Labradors, and when they are retired from our breeding and showing
program, they are spayed or neutered (the Host home is responsible
for this) and then permamently reside with their Host families
for the balance of their lives. The advantages to the Host family
are many! You get a healthy, sound, well-bred Lab as a loving
family for the life of the dog. If we show your puppy, you get
show photos and bragging rights, and you get to take part in the
excitement of a breeding program, without all the stress and smell
of raising puppies. You also get the opportunity to get a puppy
of your own from your hosted Lab. The puppy is placed as a companion
with a spay/neuter agreement, to be kept as a pet for your family
and not for resale. TarKom Labradors pays for all required health
clearances and breeding expenses.
As
a host family, you also have certain responsibilities. You must
live within a 200 mile radius of TarKom Labradors to qualify to
host a dog. You must keep the dog healthy and happy by proper
feeding as set forth by TarKom Labradors, proper exercise, vet
visits, vaccinations, heartworm and flea preventative and loving
attention. All such expenses are the responsibility of the ho
st family. The dog must be a family dog, not be raised in a kennel
or chained up in any way, and the host must have a secure, safe
living environment so the dog does not run away, get hurt or impregnated
by another dog. The host must agree to remain in regular contact
with TarKom Labradors to keep us updated on the dog’s status,
and will be asked to send pictures on occasion. If
we feel the dog has potential in the show ring, the Host home
must allow us access to "borrow" the Labrador now and
then for the purpose of attending shows. We'll let you know up
front if the puppy / dog is a show prospect and what to expect.
For
females: The host must agree to bring the girl back to TarKom
Labraodors for breeing. Because we do progesterone testing, it
will normally be 10-14 days, though that is not set in stone. The
female will be returned to the host’s home after the breeding
with instructions for feeding, and may need to come back for an
ultrasound. Shortly before the pups are due the girl will come
back to TarKom Labradors and stay throughout the remainder of
her pregnacy and whelping . As a general rule, we will want to
breed 2-3 litters from a female. The specific number will be determined
in your contract.
For
Males: The host must allow us access to the male as needed for
breedings, and be willing to take the dog to a veterinarian for
semen collection and shipping, if requested, with fees paid by
TarKom Labradors. Males are to be kept intact for their lifetime,
unless special arrangments are agreed upon by both parties. If
the male is used for 3 or more breedings to girls owned by TarKom
Labradors, you are welcome to one puppy from one of his litters.
If
hosting a Lab sounds like the right choice for you, let us know!
Sometimes we will place a Lab with the right home, even if hosting
the dog was not our origional intent.
